Meet Erica and Shelley, the authors and style writers at Boutique on Feet. Boutique on Feet is a “Shopgirls Blog” and if you like fashion and to shop, this is a blog you’ll definitely want to visit.

How was your blog born?
Originally I started the blog as a suggestion by our website designer to help market our online business. My best friend and I started our online store as a way to offer cute, affordable merchandise to busy ladies like ourselves. We both have boys, so this was definitely our “girlie” thing to do. Honestly, I did not know much about blogging and really did not know where to begin with it. My girlfriend and I both started doing a little blogging in the beginning, but then I pretty much took it over, since I enjoyed the writing and design aspect. However, once I really started getting in to my blog, it started becoming much more to me than a “marketing tool”. Having a love and background in writing and communications, as well as a love for “inspiring” others, our blog took a turn that I never saw coming. It suddenly became a creative outlet that I fell instantly in love with.

What can readers expect when they visit?
When readers come to visit Boutique on Feet, they can expect a very “girlie” environment that chats about fashion, style, celebrity looks, product loves and beauty on the inside and out. I have also been fortunate to interview some wonderful ladies from television and share their stories. I have written several posts on what “real” beauty is, in the hope that those words will not only inspire, but leave a mark on those who read them. If you scan through the many posts, you will see I’ve written about people who are truly “beautiful”. One that really sticks in mind is a local family from Charlotte who was living and breathing childhood cancer. Their strength and positive attitude through all their hardships really was the definition of “true beauty” to me. Yes, I love fashion, makeup and everything, “girlie”, but honestly, what matters to me most is being good friend, loyal person and just ultimately living the “real” meaning of beauty.
What advice can you give to other bloggers about merging a personal and business blog?
If you want to start a blog to help boost your business, I recommend speaking from the heart and writing about what matters most to you. Yes, of course you want to mention things that help enhance your business, but make sure what you write about are true, honest feelings . . . and you are not just there to give your readers a “sales pitch”. To me, that would be a big turn-off. I love that I have fallen in love with my blog and have been able to really write from the heart, while at the same time, highlighting some wonderful things from our boutique. It’s the best of both worlds!

What is one accessory we can’t go without this spring?
The hottest thing this spring are “cord bracelets”. They are bracelets made out of a black or brown cord with different beads. There are so many designs to choose from, and all create a very fresh spring and summer look.
What are your favorite kind of blog posts to write?
Gosh, that’s a tough question. I really enjoy interviewing different people for my blog. I have interviewed several reality stars such as Tenley Molzahn, Deanna Pappas and Molly Mesnick. Also, I was thrilled to interview Cary Fetman, a celebrity designer who has worked with the Bachelor/Bachelorette contestants and several leading ladies who walk the red carpet. I actually had a 30 minute phone conversation with him, and he couldn’t of been more down-to-earth. Again, another truly beautiful person in my eyes. I have also shared several fundraisers we have done through our boutique. We love giving back!
What would you do with a whole day to yourself?
Honestly, enjoy the, “sound of silence”! Having 3 little boys, my house is quite busy, as you can probably imagine. When I have some moments to myself, I love going on my screened porch and just relaxing with some magazines. Those are the times I really love to blog, since I don’t have any interruptions. ![]()
